Summary: Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum
Comment: This Dyson DC14 Animal is by far the strongest vacuum I've ever used. A relative refered this machine after so many failed attempts at other pricy but weak machines. We live on a ranch in rural Northern Arizona and animal hair, dirt, dust and livestock manure on the boots are an every day thing and it takes a heck of a machine to clean it up. The Dyson has excedded all expectations on power and pick up with zero dirt back into the air and NO BAGS to change or run out of. The attachments are all well thought out, designed and work excellent for hard to reach areas. We would rate the Dyson D14 Animal a hefty A+ but if you get one, read the directions first as it can look complicated but once you use it a couple times you're home free and reaching the rafters.

Comment: I own two
Unpacking and assembling the machine brings awe at the thought process put into the machine. Everything is designed so well to perform its function. Little things like the canister are easy to remove, clean and replace. Little fear that the maid who operates more on force than thought will damage this.
Performance is outstanding. At one location it replaced a top of the line Sears machine of similar design. A followup vacuuming with the new Animal nearly filled the canister with dust. Simply stated it seems to clean deeper than others. As a cat owner I appreciated that it did a great job on the cat hair.
I have allergies and emptying the canister of the old vacuum was a problem as it required removing it, splitting the cannister, dumping the contents. Dyson's one button dump from the bottom keeps the cloud of dust down. They also do some very thoughtful stuff in protecting the dump button until the canister is well clear of the vacuum to prevent accidental opening.
The machine is a little heavy for dragging up and down stairs but think of it as a 10 second trip to the gym.

Summary: Dyson has been worth the money for us
Comment: We have owned our Dyson animal for a few years now and I would buy Dyson again. We don't use the attachment extras.
Our Dyson (animal) is still picking up the dog and cat hair wonderfully. I've owned Hoovers and a Dirt Devil in the past, and this has been by far the better vacuum over all of them. The suction is superb and no belt breaks like the others!
Rated it 4 stars because I don't like the way our wand works--having to undo the whole power cord just to use it, but oh, well...I still like the vacuum.
I said I didn't want another bagless, but this is so easy to detach and empty. I generally carry it out to the large garbage container outside, as it can be dusty emptying it in the 13-gallon trash can indoors.
All in all, it's wonderful and I highly recommend Dyson to my friends.

Summary: Dyson Hype?
Comment: The dysons are definitly heavily marketed. And since we have a cat that sheds way too much we decided to get this vaccum. It is a bit pricier than other vacuums but we bought it anyway. It works well but I dont know if it works any better than any other vaccum. The wand tool is a bit of a pain to use at times.
Overall it is a good vacuum but I am still unsure if it is worth the money.

Summary: I finally got a vacuum that I enjoy using
Comment: My house is full of dust and cat hair. I love the Dyson since it is powerful and picks up the dirt. It is very easy to use the attachments. Though it takes a while getting used to the wand. It is not that heavy as my older vacuums. I love the long cord. Users are correct that it is not good for area rugs, but I do not have any. I only have carpet and bare floors.
